Introduction to Fundraising, Philanthropy and Resource Mobilization (Helsinki)

This one-day training introduces you to the field of strategic major gifts fundraising. We will cover the entire process, from planning a fundraising strategy to the practical aspects of working with potential major donors. We will also go through the term “stewardship” and its importance for organizations working with major gifts.

This training is aimed at people who would like to know more about major gift fundraising in different sectors and does not require any previous experience. The training will be held in English.

Participants from previous training sessions include fundraisers, CEOs, senior managers and board members – from universities, charities, arts/cultural institutions, hospitals and more.  It is primarily aimed at Finnish organizations but other Nordic participants are also welcome.

500 €. (VAT added when applicable). Lunch is included in the prize. The application will close after 10 September 2020.

If a registered participant can not join the training because of the ongoing Corona pandemic, Brakeley Nordic offers rebooking to a later training session free of charge.

Our training leaders

Johan Wennström, CEO at Brakeley Nordic
Johan has worked with universities to develop their external relations, including fundraising ventures, since 1998. In his current role as CEO at Brakeley Nordic, he has supported numerous non-profit organizations in different sectors with fundraising and major gifts. Johan has actively been involved in fundraising for organizations such as Aalto University, Grafikens Hus (museum for printmaking) and SLU Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences. In Finland, Johan has also advised organisations such as Arcada, University of Oulu, University of Helsinki and Åbo Akademi University.

Pekka Lehtinen, Senior Associate Consultant at Brakeley Nordic
Pekka has been senior associate consultant with Brakeley Nordic since 2019. Until 2018 Pekka worked for 23 years at one of the leading (and oldest) Finnish corporate law firms. Since 2015, Pekka has been in the Board of Kiasma Support Foundation and he has been acting as the chairman of the Board since 2017. Kiasma is the leading contemporary art museum in Finland.
